π₯ Prep
- Cut the 8 bread slices into small cubes (about 1βinch pieces) and set aside.
- Peel and finely chop 1 onion.
- Measure out 2 tbsp peanuts (preferably roasted and unsalted).
- Measure out 1 tsp mustard seeds.
- Measure out 0.25 tsp turmeric powder.
- Measure out 1.5 tbsp oil.
- Measure out 1 tsp salt.

- 1. Heat the 1.5 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- 2. Add the 1 tsp mustard seeds and let them splutter for 30 seconds.
- 3. Add the 2 tbsp peanuts and roast for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until they turn lightly golden.
- 4. Add the chopped 1 onion and sautΓ© over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- 5. Sprinkle the 0.25 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp salt over the mixture; stir for 10 seconds to evenly distribute the spices.
- 6. Add the cubed 8 bread slices, tossing to coat them with the spiced oil, and cook for 3-4 minutes over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the bread is heated through and slightly crisp on the edges.
- 7. Remove the pan from heat and let the dish rest for 1 minute before serving.

- Transfer the Poha Bread Upma to a serving bowl and garnish with an extra sprinkle of peanuts if desired.
