👨🍳 Cooking Instructions
Full recipe instructions for preparing Leberkäse
🔥 Prep
- Take 500 g ground pork and 500 g ground beef and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- Dice the 100 g bacon into small cubes.
- Measure out 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp marjoram and set aside.
🔥 Cook
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (or 350°F) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
- 2. Add the diced bacon, salt, and marjoram to the bowl with the meats; mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
- 3. Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press down firmly to eliminate air pockets, smoothing the top.
- 4. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C (158°F) and the top is golden brown.
- 5. Remove the loaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- 6. Slice the Leberkäse into 1‑cm thick slices and serve warm.
🔥 Serve
- Serve slices warm with sweet mustard (Senf) and pretzel rolls (Brezn) or crusty bread.
- Accompany with a side of potato salad or sauerkraut for a traditional German meal.
- Optionally, pan‑fry the slices in a little butter over medium heat for 2‑3 minutes per side for a crisp exterior.
