👨🍳 Cooking Instructions
Full recipe instructions for preparing Black tea
🔥 Prep
- Measure out 1 tsp black tea and place it in a tea infuser or directly into a teapot/cup.
- Measure out 200 ml of cold water in a measuring jug.
🔥 Cook
- 1. Pour the 200 ml of water into a small saucepan and bring to a rolling boil over high heat (100°C), watching for large bubbles.
- 2. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the water cool for 10 seconds to reach about 95°C (optional for optimal extraction).
- 3. Pour the hot water over the measured 1 tsp black tea in the infuser or cup.
- 4. Allow the tea to steep for 3-5 minutes depending on desired strength, keeping the cover on to retain heat.
- 5. After steeping, remove the tea infuser or strain the leaves, stopping the extraction process.
- 6. (Optional) Add a splash of milk or a slice of lemon, and sweeten to taste if desired.
🔥 Serve
- Pour the brewed black tea into a pre-warmed mug or teacup.
- Serve plain, or with a dash of milk, lemon, or honey alongside a classic British biscuit (e.g., shortbread or digestive).
- Enjoy while hot, ideally mid-morning or afternoon with a light snack.
