👨‍🍳 Cooking Instructions

Full recipe instructions for preparing Sencha

🔥 Prep

  • Measure out 1 tsp of Sencha leaves and place them in a small bowl or tea infuser.
  • Measure out 200 ml of fresh, cold filtered water and set aside.

🔥 Cook

  • 1. Heat the 200 ml of water to 70°C over medium heat until tiny bubbles appear at the surface but it does not reach a rolling boil.
  • 2. Transfer the measured Sencha leaves to a teapot or infuser.
  • 3. Pour the heated water over the leaves and steep for 1 minute.
  • 4. After steeping, remove the leaves (or lift the infuser) and pour the tea into a serving cup.

🔥 Serve

  • Serve the Sencha tea hot in a pre-warmed teacup to preserve its delicate aroma.
  • Optionally accompany with a small piece of wagashi (Japanese sweet) or a lightly salted rice cracker for contrast.
