👨🍳 Cooking Instructions
Full recipe instructions for preparing Ragi Mudde
🔥 Prep
- Measure out 1 cup of ragi flour.
- Measure out 2 cups of water.
- Measure out 1 tsp of salt.
🔥 Cook
- 1. Bring the 2 cups water to a boil over medium-high heat in a deep saucepan.
- 2. Add the 1 tsp salt to the boiling water and stir.
- 3. Reduce heat to medium and gradually sprinkle the 1 cup ragi flour while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- 4. Continue stirring vigorously for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan, forming a smooth dough.
- 5. Reduce heat to low and cook for another 2 minutes to ensure the flour is fully cooked.
- 6. Remove the pan from heat and let the dough cool slightly for 1 minute (just enough to handle).
- 7. Wet your hands with a little water, then take a portion of the dough and roll it into a smooth ball about the size of a golf ball (approximately 2-3 inches diameter).
- 8. Place the formed ragi mudde on a plate; repeat until all dough is used.
🔥 Serve
- Serve the ragi mudde warm with a side of sambar or any South Indian lentil stew.
- Drizzle a spoonful of ghee over each ball for added richness.
- Pair with coconut chutney or a spicy tomato chutney if desired.
