Full recipe instructions for preparing Ginger Tea

🔥 Prep

  • Peel and thinly slice the 1 inch ginger.
  • Measure out 2 cups of water.
  • Measure out 2 tsp of tea powder.
  • Measure out 2 tsp of sugar.
  • Measure out 0.5 cup of milk.

🔥 Cook

  • 1. In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger and 2 cups of water, then bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • 2. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes to release the ginger flavor.
  • 3. Add 2 tsp of tea powder and 2 tsp of sugar, stir well, and continue to simmer on low for 2 minutes.
  • 4. Pour in 0.5 cup of milk, increase heat to medium and warm the mixture for 3 minutes, ensuring it does not reach a rolling boil.
  • 5. Remove the saucepan from the heat, strain the tea into serving cups, and discard the solids.

🔥 Serve

  • Serve the ginger tea hot, preferably in small traditional cups.
  • Pair with South Indian snacks such as murukku, banana chips, or a piece of jaggery for added sweetness.
